A familiarity with the rather involved workings of the temporomandibular joint is required, so that the main symptoms of the TMJ disorders can be detected with ease. Hence, an understanding of the anatomical characteristics of this part, under ordinary circumstances as well as while under some adverse effects, is of the essence. At the very outset, it should be known that the temporomandibular joint area is placed at the connection spot of the skull and the mandibule (i.e., the lower bone in the jaw). The joint mainly serves as a hinge, and helps people to open and/or close their mouths with ease.

However, only the unilateral closure or opening of the mouth is not the sole function of the temporomandibular joint, and it does not act only as a hinge either, as many people tend to think. People can open their mouths to the fullest extent possible, thanks to the ability of the slight sliding movement in the forward direction, allowed by this joint. In fact, almost two-thirds of the act of opening the mouth is completed by this forward-sliding movement capacity of the joint. Only the remaining one-third of the job is done by the hinge-resembling functions of the joint, which allows the jaw to open up.

However, in the absence of the muscles and the cartilages that are located in and around this area, the bone-filled joint is not able to accomplish the above tasks wholly on its own. In particular, a cartilage located between the roof surface of this joint and the upper parts of the mandibular bone, called the articular disk, supports considerable support to the TMJ. The retrodiscal ligament (a ligament that resembles a rubber-band), located in the rear portion of the articular disk, lends physiological support to the latter cartilage. The lateral pterygoid muscular organs look over the activities of the cartilage from the front region. TMJ symptoms, as enumerated below, can be sparked off due to any aberrations in these setups. There are several other probable causes for the appearance of TMJ symptoms, which can be summed up in the following manner:

Unusual Symptoms of TMJ

There are certain well-documented symptoms of TMJ disorders. These include locking incidents at certain intervals, aching sensations in the area of the joint, emittance of crunchy, clicking as well as snapping movements whenever the joint of the jaw is moved. However, there are several other rather unusual symptoms of temporomandibular joint disorder problems as well. These can be listed as under:

Sight-related TMJ Symptoms

1. The eyes turning excessively red.
2. Aching sensations in and around (above as well as below) the eye.
3. Non-clear sighting ability.
4. A sensitive reactivity in presence of light.
5. The eyes feeling pressurized, especially from behind.
6. Excessive watering in the eyes, without any apparent reason.

Hearing-related TMJ Symptoms

1. Not being able to hear properly.
2. Unexplained aches in the ear.
3. The ear having a full and heavy sensation.
4. Just as in tinnitus problems, hissing, ringing and/or roaring sounds being heard.
5. The ear feeling cluttered or stuffed up.
6. Problems in maintaining balance, a giddy feeling, as well as vertigo-related issues.

TMJ Symptoms Apparent In The Face And The Head

1. Pain in the forehead region.
2. Migraine-related problems.
3. Cluster pain in the head.
4. Head-pains originating from sinus issues.
5. Experiencing pain whenever the scalp, the head and other nearby regions are touched.

TMJ Symptoms Apparent In The Cheek, The Chin, The Mouth And The Face

1. Discomfort or aches in these parts of the body.
2. The cheek and/or the chin becoming painful.
3. The joint region of the jaw, as well as the jaw itself, growing aches.
4. Click sounds being heard when the jaw is opened,
5. Not being able to open the jaw fully,
6. Lack of control over the movements of the tongue,
7. The jaws opening in a non-uniform manner,
8. The bites taken being unequal, with one side biting off more than the other.

Gums And Teeth-Related TMJ Symptoms

1. The sets of teeth becoming painful.
2. Tendency of teeth-clenching.
3. Bruxism, i.e., the habit of grinding the teeth too frequently.
4. Problems in touching the gums in the mouth.
5. Facing problems while using a toothbrush.

Throat-related TMJ Symptoms

1. Problems in the swallowing process.
2. The throat feeling tight and pressurized.
3. Even in the absence of any infection, the throat remaining sore.
4. Having no control over alterations in the voice.
5. Laryngitis of an acute nature.

Shoulder And Neck-Related TMJ Symptoms

1. The muscular regions around the neck growing painful.
2. Pain in the shoulder parts.
3. Aching sensations, both in the upper as well as lower back regions.
4. The entire region becoming stiff.

The above-listed secondary symptoms are widely recognized as indicators of temporomandibular joint problems. However, not all patients do actually experience these symptoms. The appearance of these TMJ symptoms is dependent on the gender, the age and other unique factors of the patients. Hence, individuals often experience differing TMJ symptoms.

When a person gets afflicted by TMJ-related disorders, there might appear a wide range of varying symptoms of the disease. These symptoms have been listed above, and might or might not manifest themselves in the body system of the patients. It has to be kept in consideration that, many of the symptoms related to TMJ disorders overlap with those related to tinnitus problems.

Temporomandibular pains in the head are experienced by many tinnitus patients, while many people affected by TMJ problems get to hear ringing noises in their ears as well, leaving no scope for confusion in this issue. The fact remains that, TMJ disorders and tinnitus rather resemble each other in characteristics. Earlier on, excessive stress was deemed to be the chief reason for the problems. However, in recent times, the nerves, bony areas, ligaments and other such areas have been positively identified as root causes behind these issues. The structures in these cases are common to both the TMJ as well as the middle portion of the ear.

Treating TMJ Disorders

TMJ treatment procedures are greatly in demand, for any afflicted person would like to have a quick and effective cure. However, complications arise, since neither over the counter drugs, nor the traditional medicinal methods are able to get rid of the problem. These techniques of treatment tackle only the TMJ symptoms, and bypass the real causative factors of the problem. Since these causes remain within the body, the chances of the disease relapsing remains high.

On the other hand, the entire body of the patient is treated as a single unit by the holistic methods of treatment. These techniques detect all the root causes of TMJ disorders, and eradicate all the latter completely. The symptoms of the problem disappear as soon as these causal factors are removed too. Hence, chances of re-occurrence of the disease are done away with as well.

There is more of a focus on the scientific explanations for such occurrences and a sense of doubt pertaining to religious explanations. We want an immediate answer for things like this but we don’t always get one. Anyone who brings up the religious angle is destined for ridicule and bound to be called a “religious nut”.
I was listening to The Early Show on CBS the other morning while I was getting ready for work and something I heard grabbed my attention. “Stay tuned for our next story with a 15 year old boy who cries tears of blood.” What? This has to be a unique story to say the least. I dropped my makeup and dashed to the living room to see the interview with the boy and his mother. Calvino Inman of Tennessee and his mother Tammy Mynatt brought the video of him crying tears of blood hoping to reach out to someone who can help them with this situation. His tears did not appear to be diluted in any way, they were pure blood! Calvino said that he thought he was going to die when he began crying the bloody tears. It happens randomly about 3 times a day and lasts for up to 15 minutes. The crying is not provoked by emotion as Calvino is not feeling sad when this happens or doing anything that would induce normal tear production.
There is a condition called Haemolacria that causes people to shed bloody tears, but the doctors cannot yet say for sure if he has this condition. Calvino went to five doctors with his mother and his condition has each of them baffled. He had an ultrasound, CAT scan and an MRI which were all normal. Haemolacria is usually a result of a larger underlying medical condition but he seems to be in good overall health. Calvino and his mom are continuing their search to find a diagnosis for his condition. He claims that the tears burn and are annoying. His peers at school teased him at first by calling him names and saying he was possessed but they have since apologized realizing that Calvino cannot control his situation and has visited many doctors in a quest to find its diagnosis.
According to information provided by CNN, a doctor from the University of Tennessee’s Hamilton Eye Institute has studied this condition extensively and said that there were only four cases of this mysterious occurrence between 1992 and 2003. He is amazed that it is happening to a healthy young boy. He claims that Haemolacria can be caused by deep emotional trauma or a head injury, but agrees that Calvino doesn’t even fit the bill for this disorder. Another doctor at the same institute said that the condition that Calvino has can be something very miniscule in size which can be difficult to pinpoint with any of the tests he has undergone thus far. He claims that they may have to wait for more symptoms to surface to get the full picture of what the cause might be. Evidently, the condition can be the result of anything from a tumor to a simple infection. It may be a repeat occurrence of the four cases from ’92-’03 when the bleeding mysteriously stopped on its own.
This is claimed to have no religious significance. It is spelled out that religion is not a factor on most of the websites that I visited to gain more information. Could it be better for each of these unexplained cases to be a religious phenomenon rather than a medical condition? I understand that people want closure, especially the children and their parents. I also realize that it has to be extremely difficult to deal with this in your everyday life but history has shown that it doesn’t last forever as the tears of blood will most likely stop as spontaneously as they began. Why is it such a taboo to consider this to be a miracle? There might not be a medical explanation for this simply because it hasn’t been researched enough since it alone doesn’t seem to be life-threatening. Perhaps it is something that is beyond our grasp of true understanding.
Some believers may say that this is a result of “vicarious suffering” which is believed to be the act of involuntary suffering for other people’s sins so they can be forgiven. There is a 13 year old girl named Twinkle Dwivedi in India who is currently experiencing such tears and is displaying what is believed to be stigmata. Her palms, head and feet all emit blood yet she has no wounds. National Geographic will air her story on September 13th with Dish Network.
There are two religious statues of The Virgin Mary that cry tears of blood and are deemed to be genuine miracles according to the Vatican (others turned out to be staged). The two documented statues are the weeping statue of The Virgin Mary in 1949 in Syracuse, Italy and Our Lady of Akita in 1988 in Japan. Religious believers who feel that this phenomenon is a miracle are not sure why it’s happening. Some believe an occurrence like this is a sign from God and are unsure as to whether it is good or bad. Some believe that the weeping statues are reflecting sadness for these difficult times of war, poverty and violence.
Calvino’s story and the occurrence of weeping statues remind me of the young girl Audrey Marie Santo in my home town of Worcester, MA who was in a coma for 19 years before she passed away. Audrey was found in her pool at home when she was three and never regained consciousness. Doctors informed her mom that Audrey would only live a few years and suggested she place her in a nursing home. Her mom is a believer and decided that if the doctors can’t help, perhaps a miracle can. She took Audrey to the shrine of Medjugorje. Audrey had a moment where she began to move and attempt to speak, which did not last very long before she returned to her previous state.
According to her parents, many religious experiences occurred in her room such as religious statues that wept oil and blood. One might think that the parents saw things they needed to see at a very sorrowful time, but this story reached neighbors and eventually the newspaper and news. Soon enough, people from all over the world came to visit her and to pray for her recovery and for miracles. Many visitors also gave testimony that they were present when such miracles had occurred. Audrey was said to have responded to one man’s prayers for a loved one with a tear. Perhaps there was a miracle at the shrine of Medjugorje, not only for obvious reasons, but for the fact that Audrey lived to be 23 years old. She never had a bed sore, even with the fact that she was bed-ridden for 19 years.
Calvino Inman is from Tennessee which is a state well known for the amount of churches housed there in the Bible belt. Could there be a miraculous connection with Calvino and the religious beliefs of the people in his community? Could it be something even larger than that? I’m not stating that I believe this is a miracle, but I would rather hear that than find out this young teenager has a serious medical problem.
There is no scientific explanation for why this boy cries blood and there was none for Audrey Marie Santo who survived until the age of twenty three. There were no tangible explanations for what occurred with the religious statues in Japan and Italy. Will we ever know the reason behind these phenomena or will they forever remain a secret?

Samburu National Reserve lies 325 km north of Nairobi in the hot and arid fringes of the vast northern region of Kenya. The Samburu National Reserve is within the lands of the colourful Samburu people, closes relatives of the Maasai, and harbors a number of wildlife species rarely found elsewhere in any numbers. These include Grevy’s zebra, the reticulated giraffe and the Beisa oryx all species found only north of the equator. The long-necked gerenuk is a graceful antelope which spends much of its time in a bi-pedal stance seeking succulence among the withered scrub which dots this harsh terrain.
Samburu Game Reserve should be in your itinerary when you plan an in Kenya Safari or any Africa Safaris Holiday, because it is one of the less well known of the Kenya Game Reserves, and so less crowded, and in addition it has several species which are considered to be unique to the region.
Going on Kenya Safaris should not necessarily be all about the ‘big five’, but also the chance of spotting animals such as Grevy’s Zebra, Beisa Oryx, Reticulated Giraffe, Somali Ostrich, as well as Elephant, Lion and Cheetah. The lodges and camps in the Samburu Game reserve for the visitors includes, Bedouin Camp, Elephant Watch Camp, Larsen’s Camp, Samburu Intrepids Club, Samburu Lodge, and Samburu Serena Lodge. A god choice for your in Kenya safari, as part of your African Safari Holiday is undoubtedly Samburu Game Reserve, a much less crowded place to go.
Buffalo Springs National Reserve – Buffalo Springs National Reserve is separated from the Samburu Reserve by the river; less hilly and less dense than its neighbor it is equally as attractive. The Buffalo Springs National Reserve takes its name from an oasis of limpid crystal clear water at the western end of the sanctuary.
In addition to the wildlife found in Samburu the common zebra is also an attraction often marching with its cousin the Grevy, although they do not interbreed. An unexplained phenomenon is why the common zebra is not found on the north side of the river. Birdlife, too, is prolific with the Somali ostrich dominating the plains..
Shaba National Reserve - These two reserves, with Shaba which lies east of the road linking Isiolo with Marsabit, form a trio of unusual and attractive game sanctuaries very different from others in Kenya. Shaba has a particular place in the history of Kenya game conservation for it was in this reserve that the authoress, Joy Adamson, was murdered early in 1980, her trilogy of books on the rehabilitation of the compliant leopard to a wild environment unfinished.
It is impossible to talk about a Shaba National Reserve safari without mentioning Samburu National Reserve, and Buffalo Springs National Reserve, because they are all intertwined, and they form a trio of unusual and attractive game sanctuaries, and all neighbors. Before you decide on your Kenya Safari Holiday which might well be a thought for your honeymoon destination, do remember to check out the Sarova Shaba Lodge in the Shaba National reserve in Kenya north of Nairobi.

Often, there can be obvious reasons why a couple fail to conceive, such as those which show up in conventional medical tests, such as a low sperm count or blocked fallopian tubes. However, there are times when even extensive testing simply cannot explain why conception has not happened and we have to look further afield for answers.

There are non-medical factors which can affect fertility and the good news is that natural treatment for unexplained infertility can be very effective in finding solutions at a time couples often feel that all hope is lost.

“Non-medical” factors do not show up in blood or sperm tests or exploratory surgery but can often affect those who may have areas of weakness in their reproductive systems. It’s often an eternal mystery why some couples fail to conceive when other couples who seemingly lead unhealthy lives seem to conceive without any difficulty whatsoever. We all know that couple who are heavy drinkers, overweight or even those who take drugs who unwittingly become pregnant “by accident” when there are those of us who have been trying earnestly for years, all to no avail. The reason that this situation can happen is simply because we are all biologically different. Some people might have weaknesses with their digestive systems, others with their hearts. Others are prone to obesity or skin problems such as eczema or psoriasis. For some though, the weakness might lie with their reproductive systems.

If this is you and you have already undergone conventional fertility testing, all to no avail, it is very possible that certain lifestyle aspects are preventing you conceiving. This can be as a result of problems with one or both parties and natural treatment for unexplained infertility is the only real way forward.

When you think about it, over the last few years there has been a massive increase in environmental factors which have an impact on our bodies. Food additives which we cannot digest properly, pesticides, polluted water with hormonal residues and toxins in the air are just a small number of examples. In addition, if the hormone levels of both parties are “just above” the minimum levels, this could be causing difficulties with ovulation or sperm production. Other problems include organ compression, stress and even extreme temperatures.

Natural treatment for unexplained infertility revolves around the fact that conception is far more likely to occur in a healthy body, in an internal environment which is balanced and free of toxins. A good hormonal balance can also help to not only assist in conception but can better support a healthy pregnancy. Good nutrition is also vital, both before and after conception.

Prior to conception, it is vital that both parties stop smoking and cut out alcohol. In addition, if you are taking any prescription medication, you should ask your doctor whether these could have an adverse effect on fertility. Also, cutting down on your caffeine intake can help, as caffeine is known to generally increase the time taken to conceive and drinking more than a couple of cups of coffee daily can increase the chance of miscarriage.

Certain synthetic chemicals used in pesticides, cosmetics and cleaning products can mimic estrogen and this can adversely affect conception. Therefore, switching to natural cleaning products and eating organic foods can be good natural treatment for unexplained infertility.

Being overweight and underweight can both have an adverse effect in fertility. Hormones can become imbalanced by both high and low BMI’s. In addition, although moderate exercise is good, too much can have an impact on your fertility. Therefore, trying to maintain a healthy BMI and taking no more than the recommended amount of exercise can be helpful.

Despite researching and putting into practice tips on how to become pregnant, some couples still do not conceive after several months. Rather than leaving matters completely to chance, it makes sense to implement a tried and tested method.

There are many factors that contribute to unexplained infertility. Doctors and medical experts have studied many of these factors, but solutions have sometimes been elusive. Some more obvious causes of infertility are linked to drugs, smoking, age, eating habits, alcohol consumption, heredity, and diseases. This article discusses some of the causes of unexpected infertility and some possible solutions.

Unexplained infertility is often a very touchy subject. By definition, infertility is a condition in which a female cannot conceive and carry a child for nine months. Because it is such a personal issue, many women do not pay their physician regular visits when wanting to get pregnant. Often this complicates the matter. However, it is important to remember that infertility is not limited solely to women. Males contribute to the infertility of a couple more often than most people realize.

At any given time, approximately 10% of the world’s population may be having unexplained infertility problems. To visualize, consider that one in every ten people you meet daily could be unable to conceive children. This may give some solace to those worrying about infertility. Realize that if you are experiencing infertility problems – you are definitely not alone.

Men and women of all ages are affected by unexplained infertility. Contributing factors include lifestyle, career, health, social habits, obesity, bulimia or anorexia, excessive exercise, hormonal imbalances and many more. Luckily, many of these factors can be adjusted to increase chances of getting pregnant. There are many websites and books that provide worthwhile advice. For things that cannot be corrected naturally, medical procedures and treatments are available. These include IVF -In Vitro Fertilization, Artificial Insemination, ICSI – Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection, GIFT – Gamete Intrafallopian Transfer and ZIFT – Zygote Intrafallopian Transfer.

Though medical procedures are often successful, taking steps to change your lifestyle is a much more economical solution and may work just as well as medical treatment. Lifestyle changes are the most important change that most people need to make. Consider purchasing books and reading articles online for more specific information. Spending $50 to educate oneself on the matter is often a smart choice before shelling out $20,000 for medical infertility treatments.

Infertility can be a life changer. Often depression and changes in overall happiness are caused by infertility, so it’s something you don’t want to ignore.

Most of us have experienced unexplained anxiety before a dental appointment. This may happen when we are just having a planned consultation for cosmetic dentistry. Some of us may put off having necessary dental work done due to the anxiety we have when going to the dentist. This can be dangerous since experts have determined that an unhealthy environment in the mouth can be detrimental to our overall health.

We may have gotten this fear of going to the dentist honestly since dental practices in the past were often painful and involved seeing and spitting our own blood. Preventive dentistry was practically unheard of when many of us grew up in the sixties so the only time most people went to the dentist was when they were already in pain. Although numbing agents were available and most of the time the pain was bearable, a visit to the dentist was far from a pleasurable experience for most of us in those days.

Improvements in the field of dentistry and orthodontics have allowed our children to have a much healthier and pleasant relationship with their dentist. Many of us still have our own teeth, instead of dentures as many of our parents and grandparents had to wear due to the poor condition of their teeth. Granted, those of us who were children of the sixties may not have the pearly whites that we desire but with the advantages of cosmetic dentistry we can achieve a winning smile.

The only thing holding many of us back from improving our smile with cosmetic dentistry is that old fear and anxiety that we have of dental procedures. If just knowing that most dental procedures are practically painless these days is not enough to alleviate our anxiety, sedation dentistry is available for cosmetic dental procedures.

In the past, sedation dentistry was only used for procedures such as the extraction of wisdom teeth or lengthy procedures for children that were medically necessary. Today sedation dentistry can be used for even minor cosmetic dental procedures when anxiety is a problem for adults wanting the procedures done.

The most popular form of sedation dentistry used to relieve anxiety and pain is laughing gas. The blend of nitrous oxide and oxygen is used by many dentists to calm their patients sometimes in conjunction with a local anesthetic during necessary and cosmetic dentistry procedures. Laughing gas helps the dentist work on people who gag very easily, since it usually eliminates the gag reflex. The patient is conscious during the procedure but very relaxed, which is a great way for the dentist to monitor the patient’s health during the procedure since the patient is awake and able to speak.

Other methods of oral conscious sedation dentistry involve the patient taking a dose of relaxing anti anxiety drugs such as valium. This is enough to calm the anxiety of most patients and leaves them conscious but relaxed during the procedure. IV conscious sedation is also available for very anxious patients, and it a good choice for some people. Like the other methods mentioned previously, the patient remains conscious but very relaxed using the method of sedation dentistry.

Sedation dentistry can make complicated dental procedures much easier for the patient and the dentist. Special certifications are needed by any dentist using sedation dentistry so be sure to check with your dentist to see if they offer this method.
